M. C. Lilley & Company Parade Sword Belt

White leather belt with brass (or brass colored pot metal) buckle and attachments.

On the buckle is the Latin: “Filii Veteranorum Gratia Dei Servatus” (Son Veterans, Grace of God Saved) with an image of a soldier, sailor and eagle–which represents the Union, Civil War veterans. Stamped in the leather belt is: “From the M. C. Lilley & Co. Columbus, OH.” The label on the box cover reads: “The M. C. Lilley & Co./Manufactures of/Society Goods, Regalia, Flags,/Military and Band Supplies./27 to 39 W. Gay St., Columbus, O.” Within the box is the following document: The single fold “General Orders No. 4 from Headquarters Commander-in-Chief, Sons of Veterans, U. S. A. Boston. June 8, 1894. Joseph B. MacCabe, CIC. Charles K. Darling Adjunct General.” The belt appears to be complete, and in good condition.
