Item Details

Probably American. Late 18th-early 19th century. Wood case (probably oak) with wallpapered interior and cloth covered padding over the center drinking vessels. Externally, the case is reinforced with iron trimming and it has forged iron handles. There are 12 bottles, –6 large, 6 small–all but one possessing the same gold painted, floral decoration. Numbers, also painted in gold, on some of the larger bottles, are still visible–32, 35, 38, 49. There is an internal crack in the neck of one of the larger bottles. One of the smaller bottles has been replaced, another, a chip is missing on the lip of the bottle. The bottles have ground pontils. One of the wine glasses has the same gold, floral decoration. The two tumblers, one wine, and one aperitif, apparently, are replaced.
