A “fire board” of two Canada Geese in a field, hand painted on plywood. At this time the artist, whose signature (on verso) is indecipherable, is unknown to me.
The board stands erect with the support of a folding back brace and red painted molding at the base. The piece measures 24 by 34 3/4 inches at its furthest points.
There is a chip out of one of the blades of grass to the left and, barely discernible, to the beak of the goose in the front of the composition. The cattail to the left is intentionally squared at its tip.
