Landscape (New York State)
Oil on canvas. Signed lower left: “C. P. Rising, ’90”
Rising studied with the Hudson River school painter George Clough (1824-1901. Also an Auburn, NY based landscape artist). He worked in a variety of media including oil, watercolor and graphite. Though he worked primarily as a landscape painter of the Finger Lakes region of New York State, he traveled and painted throughout the state. The verbal history of this painting implies that it was created in the area of Amsterdam, NY.
The painting is in good condition and measures approximately 15″ by 22″ (framed: 17 3/4″ by 24 3/4″).
