Tool Box for Cobbler

A jack-of-all’s tool box, with tools that would be appropriate for a cobbler, maybe even a farrier. The handwriting on a piece of leather reads: “beTer (?) Raper (?)/Sept 25th 1850/Epsom.” On a piece of paper that was inside the horse shoe notebook reads: “Epsom Nov 19 1856/Received of Charles T. Marsh/to balance of G. W. Mardens account/six dollars and fifty four cents/Griffin A. Knowles.” The horse shoe notebook is dated 1915. A pill bottle has a paper label for A. T. Sherley & Co, London, that prescribes the number of pills a dog should be given according to its weight: it doesn’t tell you what the pills were for. (Shirley was in business in the early 1900s.) The above appears to be a testament to the length of time the tool chest was in use.

The box measures ~15 1/2″ wide by 9 1/2″ deep by 7″ high.
