Painted Portrait of a Lady in Ambrotype

This unknown sitter is portrayed twice: originally in a painted portrait, and now, in this 6th plate ambrotype. The name, pencilled behind the photo, inside the case, is “J. H. Tonke,” (sp?) of whom I have no knowledge.

The photograph is housed in half of a leatherette case. The photograph is in good condition. The image here shows the reflection of the glass.
