Like the reticule which is also being offered here, this piece is an exceptionally fine, delicate bag, made of silk cloth and embroidered in a floral motif. The drawstrings are also silk. And considering the material used to create the piece, and its presumed age, –19th century or earlier–it appears to be (virtually) unused. What differs this piece from the reticule is the padded, hourglass form center with a protruding red and white, tongue like, sewer’s needle cloth (for holding needles).
The bag measures approximately 6 1/4 by 4 1/4 inches.
