Two early buckles: One in brass over silver, with paste – a “kind of leaded glass, cut and polished with metal powder until it appeared to shimmer like a diamond.” It measures approximately 1 5/8 by 2 3/4 inches; and the second, depicting four gargoyles – two pairs, opposite each other. This latter buckle has the silver hallmarks, “G. C.” (?) and “F. S.” on one side, and three indiscernible marks, opposite. The piece measures 1 7/8 by 2 7/8 inches.
