James Dickson, Albany, NY. Circa 1823-1829. Mahogany with brass bound three-tiered surgical set with over 40 pieces, including: Hay’s saws and Liston knives with removable ivory, cross-hatched handles; one trephine with removable ivory handle; and, amongst other instruments, bone shears, elevator, various sized scalpels, retractors, probes, tweezers, forceps, numerous sutures, and a bone handled brush.
Two non-Dickson instruments are: Tiemann bone shears and a Madeira scalpel. Two instruments missing from the upper tier.
