Cello (1933), by Harry Sternberg (1904-2001), is one in a series of aquatints based on musical instruments. Other instruments that Sternberg depicted include Trumpet, Clarinet, Cymbals, Violin, Saxophone, Trombone, Violin, etc.

This print is titled lower left and inscribed lower right: “for Kent, Harry Sternberg.” “Kent” is Sternberg’s friend and fellow American Artists’ Congress member, Rockwell Kent. Cello descended through the Kent family.

The piece measures approximately 10 3/4 by 6 7/8 inches, and framed, 18 5/8 by 14 1/8 inches.
